Main residential areas in west Mobile include Country Club Estates, Jackson Heights, Pinehurst, Wynnfield, Dawes Lake, Heron Lakes and Ridgelawn. Country Club Estates and Ridgelawn are in the popular residential areas of Spring Hill, a popular community in West Mobile. In Springhill, you can grab a coffee at Carpe Diem Coffee & Tea Company for lunch, eat dinner at the Dumbwaiter or grab groceries at Rouse’s Market on the way home. The Spring Hill area is home to Spring Hill College, Alabama’s oldest institution of higher learning, founded in 1830.
Spring Hill is just one of several colleges in the area, including the University of Mobile, Bishop State Community College, Auburn University’s Harrison School of Pharmacy - Mobile Campus and the University of South Alabama. South, as it’s known locally, is home to nearly 15,000 students and more than 100 academic programs. The area surrounding University Boulevard offers affordable housing and rentals for those who call West Mobile home.
